Five Out of Five Stars

I thought they weren’t going to show this here in the Philippines until April 27, 2018, the date they were going to show it in the United States (US). However, when I checked the schedules of our neighborhood SM Mall Cinemas, it was already showing on seven out of the eight Cinemas there, so I immediately went out to watch the second screening of the day.

Despite so many Cinemas showing it at the mall, there was already a line outside the Cinema entrance 30 minutes before the screening, and almost all of the seats were full. Anyway the movie was almost perfect, from Thanos establishing from the very beginning just how bad a%& he is, just as the Russo brothers promised in one of their interviews.

Five Out of Five Stars

This movie has got to be one of the strangest (if not the strangest) Science Fiction (Sci-Fi) Horror movies I have ever seen. I get the impression that this is the type of book adaptation screenplay that one would make if one were high on something, LOL.

The pace was a little slow at the start, but things pick up when the team finally enters the affected area or “The Shimmer“, and from there the strangeness starts to pick up, reaching its peak in the so called “Bear Scene”.

Black Panther Poster
Five out of Five Stars

I just saw the movie, and it deserves all the hype it is getting right now. Marvel always tries to show something new with every new superhero they introduce on screen, and they succeed spectacularly with this one.

This is because for one, T’Challa (The Black Panther) is not just an ordinary guy, he is a member of royalty, and unlike Thor who’s an alien, T’Challa is based on the exotic African culture which introduces more “realness” into the whole thing.

Five Out of Five Stars

An awesome film that makes an almost totally believable alternate reality where fantasy creatures like Orcs, Elves, Centaurs, etc. have existed side by side with humans for thousands of years and where magic is the most important commodity in the world that everyone is willing to kill and die for.

And it makes total sense: If magic was real now, it would be extremely valuable as it would allow you to do almost anything like instant riches, immortality, etc. On top of that, this is also a great Buddy Cop movie in the tradition of Lethal Weapon, Rush Hour, etc. as it follows two cops (Will Smith and Joel Edgerton) who stumbled upon a Magic Wand in one of their operations.

Four out of Five Stars

There was a lot of hype about this movie after the advanced screenings were shown, but after finally seeing it myself, I would say that it is an entertaining movie, but I wouldn’t consider it a classic. And it’s mainly because while the film has outstanding qualities, it also has some glaring weaknesses.

‘The Negatives’
Starting off with the weaknesses, I found the pacing on the first two thirds of the movie to be a bit slow. The movie was two and half hours long, but I felt most of it didn’t really contribute that much to the story and could have used a tighter editing.

Unacknowledged (2017) Movie Review

Two out of Five Stars

This documentary is divided into three acts, the first act deals with the Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) phenomenon as told by high ranking officers from the military, intelligence and executive fields, and it quite impressive, makes a very strong case for the UFOs as these are very credible people.

The second act starts to talk about conspiracies, particularly the one that deals about keeping the existence of UFOs a secret or away from mainstream society. Things here start to be a bit of a stretch, but not so much, still sort of convincing.

Four out of Five Stars

A good movie, but not necessarily a great one, IMHO. Some of the action scenes were amazing, like the crashing plane and London Sand Storm. What I liked best though was the film’s integration into the wider, “Dark Universe Cinematic Universe” that will be continued in the next couple of movies, like the hints of Vampires and the presence of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Five out of Five Stars

Finally, a non-Christopher Nolan DC movie that doesn’t suck and actually lived up to its hype … and more. The first thing I liked about this movie is how they used some of the concepts in the comics and TV series, and then just expounded and expanded the hell out of it.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017) Movie Review

Five out of Five Stars

I just saw “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” the movie and it is quite entertaining. Like a typical Pirates of the Caribbean (PoC) movie it has the funny situations and stunts, but at the same time you have new wonders to explore, like the “Black Pearl on a Bottle”, for example.

Five out of Five Stars

I just saw the “Fate of Furious (Fast and the Furious 8)” and I have to say that it was one hell of an entertaining movie. I actually didn’t have plans on watching it, but since nothing else better was on and this movie was getting a lot of good buzz I thought, what the heck, let’s give it a try.
